Admission Process
For families interested in becoming part
of the Fox Valley Montessori Community, the admissions process is
clarified here.
We encourage you to complete each step of the admissions process promptly so that we can make a timely decision concerning your child's enrollment.
1. Attend an Informational Coffee: This is the best opportunity to learn more about the Montessori philosophy, tour the school, and ask a lot of questions. If you unable to attend an Informational Coffee, we will schedule a private tour. Please call (630) 896-7557 to arrange for a coffee or tour.
Informational Coffees are scheduled every fourth Friday, unless noted otherwise in our "Month's Happenings." Coffees start at 9:00 AM.
2. Classroom Observation: To schedule a classroom observation, please contact the school office.
3. Application: Once you have observed the classroom and determined that you would like to apply to Fox Valley Montessori School, please fill out the Application for Admission with a copy of the student's birth certificate and return it either in person or by mail with the $300 non-refundable application fee. Upon acceptance your tuition contract, first month's tuition and activity fees will be due.
4. Classroom Visit: New students entering Elementary must schedule a morning visit in the prospective classroom. Parents of elementary applicants may be asked to meet with the Executive Director and/or Program Coordinator while their student is in the classroom.
5. Notification: Upon completion of these steps, you will be notified of your child's enrollment status.
If your child is accepted, please complete and return the following on or before five business days prior to the start of class:
- Student Information Form
- Confidential Child Profile (Primary Classroom Only)
- Transportation Form
- Permission Form
- Policy Form
- Parent Involvement Bundle

Allergies/Chronic Health Conditions
Several students at FVMS have a serious peanut allergy - the food allergy that claims more lives each year than any other. A child with a serious peanut allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching a peanut-containing food. Therefore, we have put the following safety guidelines into effect:
- Please do not send any peanuts, peanut butter, tree nuts, or foods containing peanuts or peanut butter or tree nuts to be eaten as snacks in the classroom. Please read labels and if it states that the items contain peanuts/tree nuts, we ask that you don't send them in their lunches for a snack.
- We will not be doing any classroom projects that involve peanut butter (like bird feeders) or peanut shells (art projects). Please do not send any of these projects into the classroom with your child.
- Birthday parties are a special time for children, but can be a difficult time for the food-allergic child. If you would like to send in baked goods, please be careful about the ingredients. Please list the ingredients on the outside of the package and when preparing "treats" please pay close attention to cross-contamination in your kitchen. We ask that you do not use peanuts/tree nuts in your baked goods. To prevent cross-contamination, it is necessary that cooking utensils and preparation surfaces be carefully washed after each food is touched. It would be especially helpful if you could let your child's teacher know a few days ahead of when you'd like to celebrate your child's birthday, so that the food-allergic child can provide his/her own safe treat.
For students with asthma or a food allergy, an action plan should on file in the event that our staff needs to react in an emergency situation.
